How Do Emerging Technologies Affect Journalism?

Technology affects journalism a lot. With the way news is able to travel so fast and the editing we are able to do, technology has been interesting. Anywhere around the world, you can know what's happening near you or somewhere else. You can photoshop or video edit what you want people to see and what you don't. For journalists, they are able to share their opinion much faster and easier. They are able to find what people are interested in with one click of a button. Also, technology has made many things accessible anywhere. You don't need to be home to write a blog. You can write it on the bus using your smartphone. Research has been made easier. By typing something on the internet can save you so much time then going to the library. With my experience, social media has evolved and allowed me more access to resources. I am able to contact someone if I need to interview them or I can post a blog the second I finish writing it. Technology has made a journalists life much easier. Some links will be down below if you'd like to read more.

Tips On Creating A Good Podcast

Podcasts have been around for many years. Something about listening to what people want to share with the world is very interesting. Want to start your own podcast? Here are some tips on creating a well-developed podcast, from a technical aspect and personal experience.

Creating a podcast requires a large amount of time and creativity. Starting with a very important aspect: sound quality. Sound quality is a very important part. You don't want to scream into the microphone or whisper either. From my personal experience, do a sound test before actually recording. Put a fist between the speaker and the microphone. This will allow a good amount of space for you to talk at a normal pitch. The second tip is find your audience. Figure out what topics you want to talk about to reach out to your "target" audience. Another important aspect of recording a podcast is editing. Make sure you find a good sound editor. Most people use GarageBand on Apple products. This is important because you want to take out any um's or pauses in order to make the podcast not lengthy. Also, you can add sound effects to keep your audience listening. Last but not least, research your topic. This will help keep you organized and saves you a lot of editing to do. When you are interviewing someone, try finding questions that are not a yes or no answer. Let the interviewee elaborate on what they want to say. Also, find a different variety (such as age, gender, culture, etc.) of people to interview. Some links will be down below if you's like to read more about podcasts.

Twitter As A Tool

Twitter can be very useful for many different reasons. It can be used for business, social, and educational purposes. Journalists use Twitter a lot. You would be surprised how journalists use this type of social media as a resource.

One way journalists use Twitter is by finding ideas. When something goes viral on Twitter, journalists take advantage of this. They immediately know what to write about to get the readers attention. Also, another tool Twitter can be used for is for being able to share it to the right people. You can add your link in a tweet and use hash-tags. By using hash-tags, people can read what they are interested in and you can reach out to a good audience. There are so many other ways journalists use twitter. Some links are listed below if you would like to read more about this.

My Feelings Toward Journalism

Journalism this year was very interesting in some topics. I felt like I learned a lot about podcasts. Learning about podcasts improved my communication skills. My feelings toward my podcast are positive because my partner and I did a good job. When we learned about Twitter, I wasn't very interested. I felt I knew everything we were taught. Blogs didn't interest me because I prefer podcasts. Overall, this class was very educational and entertaining.
